You Say You Want a Revolution

Most Christian Media Is Weak

Most Christian media is weak. Christian movies and TV shows are typically low budget, cheesy, and poorly made. The Chosen raised the stakes and changed the game for me. You say you want a revolution and henceforth comes Jesus Revolution. Jesus Revolution is a great story about great people that changed the world. It has a great script, cast, and the production value is top notch. Don’t get me wrong, it is not Citizen Cane, however it is a very solid production with mostly good acting. The story is not overly dramatic, yet the drama of a country in turmoil, hippies, and the church in transition provide plenty of special moments.

Imperfect People Making a Difference in the World

The world we live in today is eerily similar to the world at that time. America is in turmoil and is divided like it has not been since Viet Nam. It was a simpler time, but it was a tumultuous time. There were massive generational differences. We called it the generation gap. The gap is widening here and now. Jesus Revolution reminds us that God is at work in the world. It reminds us that God chooses to use imperfect people to do His bidding.

A New Revolution

I can’t help but think that a new Jesus revolution is on the horizon. The film moved me emotionally. Nothing moved me more than the thought that, in the churches that I grew up in, we were 25 years late when it came to accepting and making disciples of a generation who did not fit our mold. I don’t want to make the same mistake again.

Y, Z, and Alpha

I love what Andy Stanley says about the next generation. He asks, “What is the faith of the next generation worth?” Andy’s answer, “Everything!” The faith of generations Y, Z, and Alpha are worth everything. A Jesus revolution must happen for the current and coming generations. We must do anything and everything that we can to introduce them to Jesus. I am sure that it will look different, feel different, and provide a lot discomfort for us Boomers. We can’t make that mistake again. I don’t want to make that mistake again. God will provide the wisdom, the means, and the power for a Jesus revolution. The gap is widening and we have to stand in it.
